Ma-Jong, NEEEEEOOOOWWWMMM
A cra
cking breakfast of swwet-and-sour pork got kicked-off our final day in China...make the most of it whilst its still there. Fumbling around south of the Shanghai Museum (which on the site of the racetrack in Fearless) we finally bundled into the flower and pet market. Thankfully these dogs were pets and not dinner. Then we had a most fruitful bit of bargaining ever for a Ma-Jong set. Just take the mickey out of them trying to pull the wool over your eyes and point out in exactly how many wa
ys its no ACTUALLY an antique and they begin to get the point...all done with smiles though so as not to offend. A Ma-Jong set for just over GBP8 was the result, well that and a very happy Martin.
And then there we were - on the quickest journey of our lives...hot-footing it back to the hostel, chasing down the streets with our bags, down into the underground and then boom - onto the maglev train and 431km/h!! The fastest I've EVER been on land...well technically floating centimetres above it but hey! Oh yeh and all the while we'd been looking for tramps to give away our last few Yuan and our umbrellas to and did we see any - did we bollocks!
Well apart from one who kinda turned her nose up at the umbrella and bag of random food crap we put at her feet haha! The change actually came in useful at the vending machine though, so in a way we were both righteous with Christian intension and yet managed to not give away and money and instead spent it on snacks for the plane...is that bad? Nah - more a case of you-snooze-you-loose for the people of the streets - if
they'd been there they'd have got but instead they were probably sitting by their warm fireside watching TV. Discuss.
Oh and then we hopped on a plane...very fast once again! Qantas planes rock - so much on their entertainment systems yet so little time to watch. They should almost make it a day-flight so you can enjoy the full pleasure of their on-demand T
V. Grrr. Plan A (drink a few bevvies and fall asleep) didn't work on this flight for me quite so well...instead Martin went to sleep and the drink hit me a little quickly so instead I spent most the flight hanging out with the cabin crew at the back of the plane exchanging tales of travelling and making them my personal large-shot bartenders! Possibly my favourite plane-journey yet!
