Beer for 12p - Good Morning Vietnam!

This time we made our early start and the 4 hour bus journey to the border, 2 hours across the border (not helped by cheeky locals trying to push in but we beat them at their own game again!) and then 2 hours to Ho Chi Ming City (it used to be called Saigon). We met a guy called Russel from South Africa at the border who was to become our travel buddy for the next few days. Going through the border he'd had to put his bodyboard through the scanner - the officials made him open it up and had no clue as to what it was so he decided it was better to tell them it was for sleeping on than try his hand at a bit of dry-land surfing! Also briefly spoke to a guy who was cycling Bangkok to Hanoi - sounds like a challenge for the future eh Nick?!



The bus ride to Ho Chi Ming featured a tour guide who was very informative about Vietnam and even sang us a song (see video complete with Martin's peeping-tom style filming)!

Ho Chi Ming has 8 million people and 4 million mopeds - no joke! Trying to walk across the streets here is even more of a challenge than Thailand and Cambodia - the technique is the same - walk and the vehicles will part for you, but the roads are so much wider and there are so many more motos to keep an eye on!

Later that night we found surely the most awesome beer prices on the entire planet - 3500 Dong for a litre - that's about 12p - so in English terms we're talking about the 8p pint!! This place rules!

Add to this the fact that you can get massages (for 66p to a pound) as you sit drinking your beer and this place pretty much becomes lazy-heaven! On the plus side I finally got a proper rought massage here which finally started to sort out my leg properly, alleviating my mobility problems since our Thai Boxing fiasco!
