Window Pains

Just a quick one for your amusement...on the second day of our stop in Siem Reap (Cambodia) I though it might be rather pleasant to open the window and allow fresh air into our room. Later that day, in the manner in which people do, Martin decided to close the window for there was a distinct aural intrusion in the form of hard-to-digest Cambodian Karaoke. He went to close the window and a few seconds later there was this almighty crash which I even felt through the floor. Turning round he said (with a rather stunned look on his face), "I don't think it was supposed to do that". The window had popped out off its bottom runner and decended three floors to the concrete below! I laughed so much I cried! Apparently the hotel didn't find it quite so funny tho and are in the process of trying to charge us $15 of the $30 it will cost to replace the window!!! Well if it had been maintained in the first place there wouldn't have been a problem now would there?! Sticking to our guns on this one so will see what happens when we try to leave tomorrow. Personally i reckon we should get a $15 discount off our stay for not having had a window for 5 of the nights!

Final result - Team England triumphs!! No bill had to be paid because, well it wasn't our fault!! One small victory eh!
