Poems about me

Over the last few days people decided to honour me with poems about, well, me! The first was from a Miss Alice Bond and goes like this:

There once was a legend called Cai
When the girls saw him they wanted to die
His pants held a wonder
That rumbles like thunder
And his face was a pretty as pie.

Apparently this is all properly cited with peer-reviewed papers so who am I to argue?! The second submission for what I now think I should open as the "Ode to Cai" competition came from a young Mr Nicholas Lincoln and reads thus:

Our young Ian seems to think
Socials mean drink-drink-drink
He starts with lager, stout and beer
Then starts to call random people queer

Wine is next on his list
Our young Ian is getting really pissed
Red wine, white wine
Their wine, my wine
He just keeps on drinking all the time

The minesweeping king, he dons his hat
Enters the dance floor and dances like a twat
He nearly forgot the whiskey, but thats OK
Back to the bar-thats where he will stay

Whiskey and vodka, doubles galore
He only stops when he passes out on the floor.

Truly beautiful Nick...thank you I shall write some music and sing it in honour of Old Ian, because as we all know New Ian doesn't drink. Much.

The End of Uni!!!

Shattered and generally done with all that is Uni (demonstrated by the first photo) we headed to Sobar for a few respite beverages.

The light at the end of the tunnel had finally been reached, and with it so had an uncontrollable wave of tiredness. So after a brief period of trying to be sexy mofos we opted for the chilled option of a very steady slow night out. Everything was so much fresher once the tension had lifted out of the lifes of the boys of 57! An awesome night all round.

The afterparty was also great - just the lot of us sitting round and chilling out in the 57 house...and some of us eating dirty kebabs! It's all about the banter.

And a few more killer weeks

So following Nicky's birthday the CompSci boys had a week of vaguely nothing...very vaguely nothing!! Although there were not hand-ins and no exams there were three handins the week after and one on the Monday after that! The first week went fairly steadily, but following this we had a week comparable to the previous killer week. What did become apparent though was how quicly we can type and even type consistently well when we are writing up something which we are confident we know a lot about - a little different to the amalgamation techniques of the Individual Research Project!

With our entertainment systems deadline on Thursday 1st June, followed by our one remaining exam on Friday 2nd this made for another week of reduced sleep. The Karting project was a lot of fun though, even if it needed constant reworks especially within the terrain loading which I was working on. It did show up how completely overexcited we got in the intial stages of our Treatment for the game though! But the final product was well worth the effort. After the submission hardcore group revision was required for the Friday, featuring lots of tea...both for drinking and for analogies used in the exam by everyone! Awesome!!!

Friday though we celebrated with some Karting Cake - which made the slog so worthwhile! Not quite over though we had to continue on work at a rate which should have made martyrs of us! Distributed was the final deadline and in all honesty one of the best written final reports of the year I think!! Probably mostly down to the huge amount of report writing practice we've now had. All we have to see now is just how well the results go...I'm hoping for the best but we'll see...
